Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to your information when you join the My WalkMate waiting list. It's written in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us at meg@mywalkmate.com and we'll explain it properly.

Who is responsible for your data

My WalkMate is a pre-launch project built by Megan Possamai. Until the company is formally incorporated, Megan Possamai is the data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR. Once My Walk Mate Ltd (or similar) is incorporated, this notice will be updated to reflect the company as controller.

What we collect

Your first name
Your email address
Any optional answers you give us in the waiting list form

We do not collect payment details, precise location, or any special category data through this form.

Why we collect it

We use your name and email to let you know when My WalkMate launches and when early access opens. We will never sell your data, and we won't use it for anything beyond what's described here without asking you first.

Our legal basis

We rely on your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), given when you tick the consent box and submit the form. You can withdraw this consent at any time by emailing meg@mywalkmate.com. Withdrawing consent won't affect anything that happened before you withdrew it.

Where your data is stored

Waiting list responses are collected and stored via Google Forms and Google Sheets, operated by Google Ireland Limited. Google acts as our data processor. Data may be processed on Google's servers outside the UK or EEA. Where that happens, Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to protect your data to UK GDPR standards.

You can read Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. We do not share your data with any other third party.

How long we keep it

We'll keep your waiting list data for up to 12 months, or until My WalkMate launches and you've either created an app account or unsubscribed, whichever comes first. If the app hasn't launched within 12 months, we'll email you to check whether you'd like to stay on the list before we continue holding your data.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

Access the data we hold about you

Correct it if it's inaccurate

Have it erased (right to be forgotten)

Withdraw consent at any time — we'll stop emailing you and delete your entry

Object to how we're processing it

Complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk

To exercise any of these rights, email meg@mywalkmate.com. We'll respond within 30 days. Every email we send you will include a one-click unsubscribe.

Automated decision-making

We don't use your waiting list data to make any automated decisions about you.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle your waiting list data, we'll update this page and, where the change is significant, email you directly.

A note about the app

This policy applies to the waiting list only. When My WalkMate launches, a separate privacy policy will cover in-app data including voice conversations and memory. That policy will be provided before you use the app.
